United We Roll World Tour Show
Stardust Radio www.stardustradio.com
Tuesday 2/1/11 2:00pm – 4:00pm Central (Live)
Wednesday 2/2/11 6:30pm – 8:30pm Central (Repeat)
Welcome Stardust Listeners! Thank you for joining us on United We Roll this Tuesday, the 1st day of February 2011.
With what is being called a "super colossal" winter storm hitting so much of our country today and still other parts feeling effects from snow & ice to the north and storms to the south, we want to send out our wishes to our listeners here at home that you are safe and comfy in your homes and that any travelling you may have to do is limited. The weather at the station location in Iowa is forecast to be very severe, but we are hoping to get our live show on the air as scheduled on Tuesday afternoon. Should this change, we will put a notice in our blog and on Facebook.
This week, we are honored to bring you three great visits with deployed members who are serving far from home and in harm's way as they stand guard over freedom. The show will end at our regular time of 4pm Central. Remember, if you are not able to stay with us through the show, it will repeat again Wednesday, Feb 2nd at 6:30pm Central. In addition, an MP3 copy will be placed on our show archive site for listening and downloading after the shows have been broadcast.
(2:11pm) Our first visit is with Air Force TSGT Tai Taylor who is currently 4 months into her deployment with the 13th EFS in Aviation Resource Management. TSgt Taylor's duties provide a safer environment for flight crews as you will hear. TSgt Taylor brings us another inspirational visit and reminder that so many of our military members are always looking for ways to help others.
(2:43pm) Our next visit is also inspirational as well as very interesting as we speak with Capt Dennis Jenson from Camp Taji in Iraq where he is the Battalion Chaplain on deployment with the HHC 1-18 IN, 2nd AAB, 1st ID. Chaplain Jenson's journey from prior service with the Army, to becoming a member of the ministry and on to his return to the service as a Chaplain is a great story in itself.
(3:21pm) Our third visit for this show is with Air Force SSG Christina Linz who is on a 6 month deployment with the 966th AES/LNO, where her duties have her actually temporarily on assignment to the Army. SSG Linz is charged with keeping track of the many, many people who travel through Transit Center Manas, including military, civilian and foreign nationals. This military daughter and sister carries on the family legacy of serving our country.
These are three more visits that will touch your heart and make you so very proud of the men and women who serve our country, who give us the gift of freedom and to also thank their families who also serve.
We would like to thank some folks without whom the visits this week would not be possible. Our deepest appreciation goes to SSG Charles McNamara, CPT Selina Tolonen and TSG Jerome Baysmore.

Ground Hog Day - February 2nd
Groundhog Day, February 2nd, is a popular tradition in the United States. It is also a legend that traverses centuries, its origins clouded in the mists of time with ethnic cultures and animals awakening on specific dates. Myths such as this tie our present to the distant past when nature did, indeed, influence our lives. It is the day that the Groundhog comes out of his hole after a long winter sleep to look for his shadow.
If he sees it, he regards it as an omen of six more weeks of bad weather and returns to his hole.
If the day is cloudy and, hence, shadowless, he takes it as a sign of spring and stays above ground.
The groundhog tradition stems from similar beliefs associated with Candlemas Day and the days of early Christians in Europe, and for centuries the custom was to have the clergy bless candles and distribute them to the people. Even then, it marked a milestone in the winter and the weather that day was important.
According to an old English song:
If Candlemas be fair and bright,
Come, Winter, have another flight;
If Candlemas brings clouds and rain,
Go Winter, and come not again.
