THE NATIONAL GUARD RESPONDS TO HURRICANE IRENE
ARLINGTON, Va. (8/26/11) – As of 11:30 a.m. EST the governors of seven states had declared states of emergency, prompting National Guard adjutants general to upgrade Hurricane Condition levels and relocate assets in preparation for Hurricane Irene, Guard officials said today.

DEFENSE DEPARTMENT PREPARES IN ADVANCE OF HURRICANE IRENE
ARLINGTON, Va. (8/27/11) – The Department of Defense announced on Friday that it is currently providing support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) efforts to prepare for Hurricane Irene's expected landfall on the U.S. mainland.

NEW YORK NATIONAL GUARD MOBILIZES HUNDREDS OF TROOPS FOR HURRICANE IRENE
LATHAM, N.Y. (8/26/11) – At the direction of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the New York Army and Air National Guard will mobilize and deploy 900 Soldiers and Airmen and over 100 vehicles on Saturday in response to Hurricane Irene to support civil authorities on Long Island, New York City and the Hudson Valley.
